The comfy and cosy feel of this family run hotel, made even homier by the presence of the family pets including George the dog and Bob the cat! Also the friendly staff whom accommodated my request for a more private room on my arrival and offered me an unsolicited free upgrade to an ocean view room on my last night. I would definitely recommend this hotel for someone after a home away from home with a touch of old worldliness. Oh and the included breakfasts which you ate in the neat and tidy communal kitchen were lovely too!
Access from the main st was a bit tricky up steps and a ramp, especially with a big bag. Access was easier from the rear but I did not have this information upon my arrival.
The view from our room!
The hotel is old and needs to be brought into the 21st century. It can do with new carpets, paint, more modern furniture and a good clean! Generally it is in a great location but that is about it! This "boutique hotel" really needs some help! And there are no facilites for children. I also could not have breakfast as there was nothing which was gluten free!
Great location and comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms that do not have an ocean view effectivley have no view with frosted glass windows looking out at neighbours' walls. I found the room well appointed and comfortable but the decore in my room was a bit 'modern factory' for my liking. It's not really a business hotel as busses and taxis are close by but you have to drag your luggage with you to locate a taxi .I arrived after a long day and a long flight delay to be confronted by a flight of stairs up which I had to carry my luggage . Fortunately the welcome was friendly and helpful when I did get inside and service and facilites were great.
Try to get into a room with view. Unfortunately I got the room facing the wall which is not nice.
Rooms were trendy and roomy. Staff were very friendly. Great relaxed set up for breakfast. Perfect location, highly recommend and would definitely return. Top hotel!
The rooms are pokey, especially for the price. Bathrooms tiny and not very functional.
Bills itself as a boutique hotel at $200/night yet it looked like a run down hostel with dirty walls and peeling paint, dirty carpets and outdated furnishings.
We liked the informal, shared brekky. We liked the funky, but homey design features. We liked the relaxed feel and the relaxed staff.
The tiny bathroom in our standard room was tricky.
The location is perfect, staff were very friendly, nice atmosphere. Rooms were very clean.
I like the friendly greeting by the staff and the two lovely dogs. Our room was clean and tidy and had everything we required for a night's stay. We were in Coogee for a wedding so only showered, then slept in the comfy bed before checking out.
The creaky floorboards. Next time I will know what the complimentary ear plugs in the hall way were for.
Stayed as group of 4 for only 1 night. Would love to have stayed longer. Very cute beach stay. Not luxurious, but great location, friendly staff, great communal area for brekky, bbq or drinks. The 4 legged meet and greet team make you feel instantly at home. Well done for something a bit different.
The location and its casual atmosphere
My husband and I stayed at the hotel, actually we really loved being there. Firstly, location was amazingly great, just for one minute to walk to the beach. Also, there are pubs and restaurants. We would say that was prefect without size of the room we stayed. It was smaller than I expected. However, we can see our self to come back there really easily. We recommend Dive hotel strongly if people stay in Coogee.
Excellent service, clean and quiet rooms, great breakfast (Continental) with a selection of real coffees. It's proximity to Coogee beach is spot on, beach towels are provided, a nice boutique hotel feel with less than 20 rooms. George and Lucas (the dogs) are just divine and Bob the cat minds the desk. Overall a great stay at The Dive, with Coogee beach being less hectic than Bondi and easier to get around. We will return :)
That we didn't book an ocean/beach view room, next time!
Location and the size of the room, free internet.
Staff were not very helpful, the hotel was a bit shabby for the price.
